One world, two continents, two countries, two distinct cultures, and more than 12 thousand kilometers apart. These were the premises that were set for a Spaniard and a Filipino to meet and fall in love in a little town in the Northern Spain.
So begins the story of Mayu and Tomas. She, passionate about life, tireless, simple, a true friend to her friends, in the middle of the world, where she stretched time to the maximum for her loved ones. He, a winner, gifted in being the best at public relations even without knowing a word of Spanish, an adventurer, capable of converting any corner of the world into a possible home, always with a pleasant word, and an indelible smile.
They crossed in Pamplona at the same time. You may call it coincidence, chance, fate, or perhaps even "randomness". But it doesn’t really matter. It is said that these are the words with what God affirms his hand.
And so it was, in September of 2014 the both of them arrived in Pamplona. Mayu came to study her Master in Educational Intervention and Psychology. She, filled with the dream of changing the world of education, to discover and understand what happens in each child. On the other hand, Tomas, chasing his dream, came to study at University his Master in Economics and Finance. For him, it he was studying not just money, but rather he was studying the why of things, how the world moves, and how to help make a better world to live in.
They both come from two worlds totally apart and different, from completely different fields and backgrounds. However for some reason, that one day we may only know, they both coincided in life at the Universidad de Navarra. From henceforth, neither of them could have thought that Pamplona was going to change their lives so much. It did not cross their mind that this little town, would from this time forth change the course of their lives so much. They would both start a new chapter in life where both would be one author.
In the beginning, everything seemed to be going along according to plan. Tomas, came to enjoy, to learn Spanish, to know the Spanish life, to discover “pintxos” and “terrazas”. But it didn’t cross his mind of getting married just yet. And Mayu? Well, she came to Pamplona to go home to enjoy the company of her family after her years in Madrid. She came to Pamplona thinking of furthering her studies, of advancing herself in her field, to prepare herself to later go back to Madrid. But very often, the road map of life isn’t what you plan. God takes the reins of life, and of course, with your permission – your yes, He leads you down the best path. Friends in common, juevintxo nights till the early morning, afternoons at the University, cañas in lost places...
This is the start of a story together… I can tell you a lot more stories. I can tell you about Sundays in Ujué, San Sebastian, Zarautz or of the many little adventures they did together. But I prefer to go on to the next chapter.
A decision, a commitment, a promise, and very soon, a YES for life. They both start life anew because they will no longer be individuals but rather be one, walking hand in hand together.
Now today, as the date draws closer, they would like to say to you. Yes, to YOU, you who are reading this story right now, that they wish that you would accompany them and share this special day together with them. They are a bunch of privileged individuals in this life. They are indebted and wish to thank many people who have helped them in one way or another to become the people who they are today. First of all, thank you to their families: for their unconditional and unwavering support, for being there always. Also, thank you to all of their friends, to each and every one of you who have been there with them in writing their story till death do them part.

Story
Un mundo, dos continentes, dos culturas diferentes, dos países a más 12.000 km de distancia. Este fue el punto de partida de la historia de una española y un filipino que se encontraron en una pequeña ciudad del norte de España.
Así empieza la historia de Mayu y Tomás. Ella, una apasionada de la vida, una luchadora incansable, sencilla, amiga de sus amigos y habitante de un mundo donde el tiempo se estira todo lo que haga falta para cuidar de su gente. Él, un triunfador, sin una sola palabra de español en su mochila fue capaz de convertirse en el mejor relaciones públicas que uno puede buscar. Un aventurero, capaz de convertir cualquier lugar del mundo en un hogar; siempre con una palabra agradable y una sonrisa imborrables.
Aterrizaron en Pamplona casi al mismo tiempo. Podéis llamarlo coincidencia, azar, destino, casualidad... ¡Qué más da! Ellos están seguros de que todas esas palabras son seudónimos que Dios utiliza cuando no quiere firmar con su nombre. Y así fue, en septiembre de 2014, Mayu empezaba el “Master en Intervención Educativa y Psicológica” con la ilusión de mejorar el mundo de la educación, con el deseo de descubrir y entender lo que sucedía en la cabeza de cada niño que pudiera pasar por sus manos. Tomás, persiguiendo su sueño, comenzó el “Master en Economía y Finanzas”, porque para él, el dinero no es el objetivo de su trabajo, sino comprender la sociedad en la que vivimos, la razón de ser de las cosas... su objetivo, poner su granito de arena para mejorar el mundo que nos rodea.
Venían de dos mundos y dos campos totalmente diferentes, pero por alguna razón, que tal vez algún día descubramos, coincidieron en la Universidad de Navarra. Por aquel entonces, ninguno de los dos pensaba que Pamplona cambiaría sus vidas. No esperaban que esta pequeña ciudad, sería un punto y aparte en la historia que cada uno de ellos venía escribiendo hasta el momento, para empezar un nuevo libro en el que firmarían los dos.
Al principio todo parecía seguir el guion previsto. Tomás venía a aprender el español, a conocer qué era eso de las tapas y los pinchos, a disfrutar en las terrazas. En sus planes no entraba quedarse en España. ¿Y Mayu? Ella llegó con la idea de estudiar, volver a casa con los suyos y retornar de nuevo a Madrid. Pero la vida no siempre se desarrolla según nuestros planes, “la vida es aquello que te va sucediendo mientras te empeñas en hacer otros planes”. Amigos en común, algunos juevinxos hasta la madrugada, tardes en la Universidad, cañas en sitios perdidos… y, un año más tarde, empezaron a salir.
Este es el comienzo de su historia en común… Os podría hablar de muchas cosas más: de los domingos en Ujué, San Sebastian, Zarautz o cualquier otro lugar de esta tierra… pero, prefiero pasar al capítulo siguiente.
Una decisión, un compromiso y, muy pronto, un sí definitivo, para toda la vida. Reharán su vida, porque dejarán de ser uno más uno igual a dos, para hacer realidad lo que dice la canción: que “en la calle codo a codo somos mucho más que dos”…
Hoy, cuando ya no queda mucho para que ese día llegue, quieren decirte a ti, sí, a ti que estás leyendo estas líneas, que desean que les acompañes y compartas con ellos este día. Que son unos privilegiados de la vida, que se sienten deudores de muchas personas a las que desean agradecer estar donde están… en primer lugar gracias a sus familias, por vuestro apoyo incondicional, siempre con ellos, siempre junto a ellos y a sus amigos, por ser partícipes de su historia, por impulsar esta nueva etapa, por estar ahí…
